I am always looking for cute date ideas for me and the boyfriend. Since we don’t get a lot of time together being long distance, I try to find different things to do together, often the dinner and a movie thing can get a little trite. I was so proud of myself of thinking up this one the other day, we had a couple of hours to spare one afternoon. It was the awkward time between lunch and dinner were you can’t eat either and nothing really to do.

We were headed to the mall when I remembered there is a candy store there. Off we went, we picked a bunch of different candies to try. Some were my favorites he had never tried, others were his favorites, some were just ones with weird names or pretty colors (my picks). After we picked two of each, we paid and went to the sitting area. We took turns picking which ones to try and then compared preferences. It was a blast! Though be prepared for sugar high afterwards. If you don’t have a candy store, try world market or a specialty food store, they might have some different things for you to try.

What about you, what’s your favorite date idea? I am always in need of more!
So it's my birthday in less than two weeks, and I am super excited. I love getting gifts, and eating cake. Then again, who doesn't? Anyways, point is my birthday makes my boyfriend a nervous wreck. He is constantly bemoaning that he can't find something that is good enough, or worried that I will not like it that much. He doesn't seem to get that as long as it's from him and not hideous, I will love it. Last year, he asked me what I wanted and I said a dragon. He said he would try but if not, then what could be a good second. So my flippant answer was a dragon teapot. I love tea, so it made sense, kind of. Anyways, lo and behold on my birthday I am given one dragon teapot. It's mouth is the spout, the lid is a little wizard sitting on the Dragon, and the dragon's tail makes up the handle. It is AMAZING. And exactly what I asked for, this year I wasn't that clear on what I wanted. But yesterday the delivery man came to our door and my mom was like "Did you order something" and me, panicking was like no, I didn't , well I ordered some textbooks but that was yesterday they can't be here today……. Turns out it was my birthday gift really really early and since I did not know it was, I opened it. OOPS.

Apparently, Kodak allows you to print an image on blanket, and my boyfriend took my favorite poster (seen here) to have printed. He found some really high quality images of it, even managed to send me the colors but not the poster, and had Kodak print the image on a really soft blanket for me! Which is perfect because I am ALWAYS freezing and he is like Mr. Freeze from Batman. He can survive in the artic in jeans, I barely survive the grocery store without a cardigan! Needless to say this blanket will get used TONS by me, and it folds up very small, so it will be great for traveling. AND sometimes, like when they lose your luggage for three days while going to Canada from Florida in the WINTER, "Keep Calm and Carry On" is exactly what you need to be reminded constantly.
So what's been the best birthday gift you have ever gotten?
So I meant to post a few more times last week, and I wanted to apologize for not doing so. Then again, maybe I am just talking to myself but if you do check the blog, I am sorry! I decided to take a spur of the moment trip to visit my boyfriend up in the very cold northeast. It was lovely and I got to see it snow! But while there and living in an apartment I realized some truths about boys' living quarters.

Trash Cans
-Why is it boys never have trash cans in the bathroom? I even asked my boyfriend and all he could say was that they just threw stuff away in the trash can in the kitchen, five feet away. I may just have to buy them one myself, it was so annoying when I had nowhere to throw my makeup remover cloths or a tissue. Have you ever had this same experience?
Mirrors
-They also never have full length mirrors. How am I supposed to know if my outfit looks okay? Or check to make sure I don't have a rip on my tights? Again, boys just don't seem to understand, and I checked with all three boys in the apartment, none of them had a full length mirror.
Common Spaces
-Whenever I come home to my place, I always say "hello" to my roommate, and somehow try to make a general announcement that I am here. I ask her how her day was or just other things, we may then both go back to our own rooms or hang out in the living room. These boys barely acknowledge each other when they come home. I felt like I was being so rude every time we came but apparently this is the norm.
Though all that being said, I fully intend to break him of these habits, but I do have to admit, I have never had to tell him to put the toilet seat down. So I guess I can't complain too much!
